Police: Men weren't shopping, but using a gun to steal

Two guys went for what seemed like a shopping trip in West Philadelphia.

Last Tuesday afternoon, they entered the Walnut Food Market in the 5200 block of that street.

They looked around at various items when police say one of the men suddenly turned around and held the cashier at gunpoint, while his partner went behind the counter and took $500 from the register.

They got the money and ran away, last seen heading south on 53rd Street.

The first suspect is described as in his early 20s, with tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black t-shirt, blue jeans, black and white Converse sneakers, and armed with a handgun with a pink frame and black slide.

The other is also in his early 20s, with a medium complexion and tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a dark baseball hat, gray t-shirt, and black pants.

If you recognize either of them or know where they are, you're asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPDTIP (773847), or click here to submit a tip anonymously. Police say all tips will be confidential.
