Police: Newark street shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 wounded

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- A street shooting in Newark, New Jersey has left one man dead and another person wounded.

Essex County prosecutors say the shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Hunterdon Street in Newark.

Authorities say 31-year-old city resident Pedro Dillahunt was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. The wounded person, whose name was not released, remained hospitalized Tuesday in stable condition.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
