Police: Suspect sought in Southwest Philadelphia robbery

Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot during an attempted robbery earlier this month.

Police say that a 37-year-old man was followed by an unknown suspect while walking home on 52nd Street on the evening of Mar. 4th. As the victim turned onto Hazel Street, police allege that the suspect attempted to rob the man.

During the robbery, police say the suspect fired his handgun and struck the victim in the chest. The suspect then fled on foot towards 53rd Street.

Police describe the suspect as a black man with a beard in his early 20's. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a dark colored knit cap, a dark hooded jacket, light colored pants and green New Balance sneakers.
