Police: Suspects posed as PGW workers in Wissinoming home invasion, assault
WISSINOMING (WTXF) - Police are searching for two men who they say posed as Philadelphia Gas Works employees in a Wissinoming home invasion and assault.
The incident happened just before 3 p.m. Saturday on Higbee Street.
Two men, one wearing a PGW hardhat, reportedly informed the victim of a gas leak in the area and that they needed to check the basement.
Once inside, the suspects allegedly pulled a semi-automatic handgun on the homeowner. They then allegedly zip tied him up, hit him with the gun, kicked him and demanded money.
When the homeowner's fiancee came home, one of the suspects allegedly tried to grab her, ripping her coat. The woman was ultimately able to escape.
Police say the suspects took off with several thousand dollars in cash and some jewelry. The two may have fled the scene in a blue Infiniti sedan with tinted windows, according to police.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or suspects is urged to contact police.
