Police: Woman thrown to ground as suspect grabs for necklace

Police are looking to identify and locate a man they say knocked a woman to the ground before running off with her jewelry.

The incident occurred on Monday at 4th and Market Streets around 10:30 a.m.

Police say the 71-year-old victim was walking when she was approached from behind by an unknown man who then grabbed her by the neck and pulled her to the ground.

While pulling her to the ground, police say the suspect was pulling at her necklace, breaking it.

The suspect fled the area and was last seen running east on Market Street.

Police say the victim found a part of her necklace on the ground and sustained scratches to her neck as a result of the incident.

The suspect has been described by police as a black male, 25-years-old, standing 5'10" 140 lbs.
