Prosecutors probe Lancaster Co. crash that killed 2 students, hurt others

LITITZ, Pa. (AP) -- Authorities say they are investigating a crash in Pennsylvania that killed two students and injured several other people.

Officials in Lancaster County say a driver plowed into several vehicles in Warwick Township shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Dr. Stephen Diamantoni, the county coroner, said 16-year-old Jack Nicholson died in surgery. The Warwick High School District said Sunday that another student, Meghan Keeney, had also passed away.

County prosecutors said emergency responders had received several calls about a reckless driver. A Northern Lancaster County regional police officer reported the car going extremely slowly but said it sped off when the officer tried to stop it, and the officer was told to terminate pursuit. Officials said the car was then involved in a minor crash with a school bus before the fatal crash.

GoFundMe campaigns have been set up to help assist the families of both Nicholson and Keeney. A GoFundMe was also set up for Rylan Beebe, who was reportedly injured in the crash.
