Rita's Ice Taking Custard Off Menu Due To Egg Shortage

The Philadelphia based Company Rita's Ice is taking one of their most popular items off of their menu.

The reason? An egg shortage caused by a recent spike in Avian bird flu in the United States.

Frozen Custard will no longer be offered at Rita's locations nationwide.

Rita's wrote on their website that the real eggs are a key ingredient in their award winning custard.

The company added, "Until we are able to acquire eggs we are substituting a premium Rita's Soft-Serve Ice Cream which is also terrific in all our signature treats."

Rita's hopes to bring back their Frozen Custard as soon as they know that they, "have access to a sustainable supply of eggs."
