Robbery fails when officer uses car door to knock down thief

A man attempted to steal from a car but had his plot foiled when a police officer knocked him down with his car door.

On June 4, a thief was recorded taking various items from an open car on a street in London. The cops were called and arrived as the man tried to ride away on a bike.

His escape plan failed when a police officer pulled up beside the man and opened his car door, knocking him to the ground.

He has been taken into custody and will serve more than six months in jail, authorities say.
