Search for missing boaters suspended

BRIGANTINE, NJ (WTXF) - Saturday afternoon, Coast Guard crews have suspended their search for missing boaters, about a half mile off the New Jersey coast.

As many as four people are believed missing, after their boat apparently capsized near Brigantine. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received initial notification Friday at approximately 5:45 p.m. from the Brigantine Police Dept. of three to four people in the water from a capsized fishing boat.

Three or four people were spotted in the water yesterday evening around 5:45 p.m. by a beachgoer.

Crews from New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia are involved in the search.

The Coast Guard has has a cutter out searching, but so far has not found anything.
