Snapchat users experiencing extended outage

(WTXF) - If your Snapchat app isn't working, don't worry, you're not alone.

According to CNET, the image-based messaging service is experiencing an extended outage. It is preventing some from loading the app.

Snapchat is aware of the problem and has acknowledged it, but no word on when it expects service to be restored to normal.

"Hi! Some Snapchatters are currently experiencing loading issues. Our team is aware of the problem and working on a fix now!" the company tweeted from the verified Snapchat Support Twitter account.

Snapchat boasted 6 billion video views in November.

Many Snapchat users have taken to other forms of social media to complain about the outage. According to CNET, one said that the app would not refresh after installing the latest update.

Other users say that they are experiencing error messages and saying that logging out and back in again fails to restore service.
