Son accused of killing mother in East Falls

EAST FALLS (WTXF) - Philadelphia police say a man with mental health issues beat his 49-year-old mother to death in her own home.

According to police, they found Tammy Blunt's body Wednesday afternoon during a wellness check. The windows in her apartment on Wissahickon Avenue in East Falls were all open and a dog was locked in the bathroom. Authorities say her son 25-year-old Malachi White now faces murder charges.

In a statement, the manager of the apartment building says the management is deeply saddened and never saw any issues between White and his mom.
