Surveillance video from 2014 shows Robert Durst urinating on candy in TX store

HOUSTON - He's the multi-millionaire and real estate heir who keeps making news for the wrong reasons.

Surveillance video has been released showing accused killer Robert Durst urinating on candy in a pharmacy in 2014.

The video wasn't made public until Wednesday.

It showed Durst at the pharmacy in Texas picking up a prescription. He bent down and then started peeing on the candy in front of the register.

"This was a medical mishap, plain and simple. He had to go and he couldn't hold it," said Chip Lewis, defense attorney.

The night it happened, police didn't immediately arrest Durst. He later turned himself in.

The District Attorney allowed him plead no contest to a lesser charge - one on the same level as traffic ticket.

"Bob had just, less than a week before the incident at CVS, been released from the hospital after two medical procedures. He had obviously been on IVs and given a number of prescriptions by the attending doctors," Lewis said.

Lewis said the incident was embarrassing to Durst who turned 72 less than a month ago.

"He patronized that store quite often and was very friendly and very well-liked by all the staff. He was embarrassed in that aspect. The people that were so good to him were put, themselves, in an embarrassing situation," Lewis said.

Durst is in jail in Louisiana, after prosecutors charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He also faces a murder charge.

California prosecutors say he killed his best friend in 2000.
