Suspect in deadly shooting kills himself overnight

An intense standoff ended overnight in Germantown with a murder suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

Police say the 32-year-old man was believed to have opened fire on his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend on Sanger Street, early Tuesday afternoon, killing her.

Then, he shot at officers three times from three different places.

Finally, he ended up in a barricade situation just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Haines Street.

There, the suspect fired several shots and officers warned neighbors to stay in place.

Finally, police say at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, they heard one gunshot and the SWAT team went in to find he'd shot himself in his head.

Nobody else was injured and no names have been released.
