Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - It's one of America's spookiest haunted houses and it's right in our own backyard.
FOX 29 photojournalist Bill Rohrer takes us behind-the-scenes.
Terror Behind the Walls at Philadelphia's historic Eastern State Penitentiary has been scaring people for the last 26 years. The 32 night fright show is one of the largest in the country. Visitors get to walk through 6 different themed attractions.
But these scary moments are just part of the chaos. Right in the middle of all it is special effects makeup artist Lauren Palmer. Lauren and her staff have just 2 and a half hours before the show starts.
"We are trying to put as much Hollywood film quality make up in the show as possible," she said.
Each of the 200 actors have their own look. Everything from the traditional zombie to a ghostly ghoul. Lauren and the Terror Behind the Walls creative team start planing in January.
The actors come from all different backgrounds. Some are full-time actors, teachers and accountants.
