Upper Darby doctor accused of indecent assault on patients
Upper Darby, Pa. (WTXF) - An Upper Darby doctor is under arrest accused of indecent assault.
Rowena Faulk says she wasn't surprised Tuesday when she found out her doctor across the street at the Long Lane Medical Center was charged with two counts of indecent assault on his patients.
"I thought it was just me," Faulk told FOX 29, " I used to come back and say i'm uncomfortable."
Faulk has been going to 82-year-old Dr. Brij Srivastava for five years mostly because his office is close by. She says she thought about notifying authorities about his alleged behavior, but was concerned no one would believe her.
"During the course of the examination he proceeds to put his hands up her blouse," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.
Police say the elderly physician indecently assaulted a 25-year-old woman in September and a 52--old woman earlier this month. Both times allegedly fondling them during a physical examination.
"He whispers in her ear, I like this. She panics, she pushes him and runs out," Chitwood said.
According to police, the doctor also runs a second clinic on Front Street in North Philadelphia. Investigators are concerned there may be other victims.
"We're hoping if there's other victims out there they come forward," Chitwood explained.
The doctor was released on $50,000 bail. His attorney says the doctor strongly denies the allegations and will vigorously defend himself against them. He proclaimed the doctor's innocence.
Philadelphia authorities say there have been no accusations made against the doctor at his North Philadelphia clinic.
