Veteran reunited with lost dog

An emotional reunion in San Antonio, Texas Saturday night as a veteran is reunited with his service dog, Smokey.

As you might imagine, Andrew Astorga and Smokey were clearly overjoyed to see each other.

About three weeks ago, Smokey disappeared from Astorga's patio.

A Good Samaritan found the dog but couldn't keep him, so they took him to a rescue group called "In Dog We Trust."

After some initial confusion trying to find Smokey's owner, everything worked out, and Smokey was returned to his owner.

Astorga said, "I can't thank the people, everybody that was involved, with bringing Smokey home, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Laurie Gawelko with Service Dog Express said, "You could easily tell from his reaction, to the dog's reaction, the body language, the dog, everything, that this is where he needed to be. "

Astorga -- who served a tour in Afghanistan and has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder -- calls Smokey "his serenity."
