Video Shows Woman Swinging 4-Month-Old Puppy by Leash

Shocking video is making its round on social media. FOX 29 is learning the dog in the video is actually a 4-month-old puppy.

Authorities say it was shot Monday at 8th and Tulip Streets in Camden.

In the video, you see group of women begin arguing. Watch as the woman in the khaki shorts pulls a 4 month-old female pit bull puppy by its leash. The video shows the woman lifting and swinging the small dog into the air and towards another woman.

We are not going to show you the full clip as it is disturbing. Animal cruelty investigators who have viewed the video say the puppy appears terrified and could have been seriously or permanently hurt.

"It wasn't aggressive at all because it didn't even show any type of aggression following this incident either towards the owner or otherwise. If anything, it cowered and that was even more disturbing about the video," John Micklewright told FOX 29.

In the video, the woman continues to drag the dog through the air by her leash while leaving the scene.

Camden Animal Control Officer John Micklewright identifies the woman as 24-year-old Angelica Olivers of Camden. She is being charged with one count of animal cruelty after officers poured over the viral footage and used clues in the background to track her down .

People who live near where the video was shot say they've never seen anything like it.

"It's a shame," one Camden resident told FOX 29.

We watched the clip with Joelle Sanchez. He says in his eyes the puppy appears to be suffering.

"To the woman in that video I don't know if it was more of a defense mechanism cause she was scared but at the end of the day that's not how you treat a member of your family," Joelle said.

Animal control says they are working to find Olivers and the puppy in case it needs medical care.
