Vigil held for 6-year-old who drowned in pool in Wildwood

A family and school community are in mourning over the loss of a 6-year-old girl.

"We love you Isabella," said the crowd of family, friends and staff. They released balloons from the court yard of Mastery Charter's Cleveland Elementary School in the Tioga-Nicetown area of Philadelphia.

It's where 6-year-old Isabella Grattic would've moved up to first grade this year.

"She loved reading. Don't put a toy in her hand. Put a book in her hand and that's what she was. She was growing. She was going to be someone," said her grieving grandmother Helen Williams.

Police say the little girl was on vacation with family members the weekend of July 8th. They didn't notice she had gone into the deep end of the pool. Several minutes had passed before she was pulled out. She died hours later at the hospital.

"Isabella had no help. She had no help. My tiny baby had no help. There was no lifeguard to help her. There was no one there with immediate emergency treatment to help my baby," said Williams. The crowd lit candles and said prayers. Her mother was too shaken up to talk. She's expecting her second child next month. The family says there should be better safety precautions at pools.

"For being inside the swimming pool three minutes that's a little bit too long for as an adult to take your eyes off of a six year and not notice that she's gone. Not just Isabella. That's for anybody's kid," said the girl's cousin Kanisha Johnakin.

They will also dedicate a memorial to Isabella on school grounds.
