Woman leads police on high-speed chase through North Texas
HIGHLAND PARK, Texas - A woman led police on a chase from Highland Park to Frisco overnight. She was driving a pickup truck that was carrying a car on a trailer.
Police said Natalie Butler initially pulled into the Highland Park Village shopping center parking lot near Mockingbird Lane and Preston Road just before midnight.
An off-duty Highland Park officer noticed something dragging from her trailer and he went over to try to help. That's when she drove off.
The officer called for help and several officers in marked squad cars tried to stop Butler but she still refused to pull over.
The chase went from Interstate 30 to the LBJ Freeway. It continued on Interstate 35 and then to the President George Bush Turnpike and through Collin County.
Butler, who is missing part of her right leg, was finally taken into custody in Frisco after Farmers Branch officers dropped spike strips and forced her to stop.
It's not exactly clear why she wouldn't stop. She told officers she simply doesn't like police and that's why she didn't want to pull over. They also found a bag of meth in her vehicle.
Butler is now in jail facing charges for evading arrest and drug possession. She was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon because police said she hit at least one other vehicle during the chase.
