Phillies sign reliever David Robertson

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed right-handed reliever David Robertson to a 2 year, $23 million contract.

Last season with the Yankees, Robertson posted a 3.23 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched.

Robertson has earned the reputation of being a steady bullpen arm. Over the last three seasons the 33-year-old has tossed 200 innings with a 2.83 ERA. Since 2009, Robertson has thrown the fifth most innings among qualified relievers.

This will be Robertson's first time in the National League after he spent his first 11 seasons as a member of the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.

Robertson, a career closer and eighth inning reliever, will presumably have a shot to serve as Philadelphia's closer.
