Report: Eagles Derek Barnett out for rest of season
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The Eagles have now lost another defensive starter to injury in defensive end Derek Barnett, according to a report.
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news Tuesday afternoon, citing a source.
According to Schefter, Barnett, 22, will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. The former first-round pick had only missed one game so far this season when he was sidelined against the Minnesota Vikings.
Barnett had recorded 2.5 sacks and 17 tackles so far this season.
Earlier in the season, the Eagles suffered a similar blow to their defensive backfield, losing safety Rodney McLeod to a knee injury for the season.
