Bitter cold prompts Code Blue across Delaware Valley
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WTXF) - Freezing temperatures and whipping winds are prompting code blue alerts across the region, with the bitter cold expected to stick around for a few days.
Several of the code blues have been activated for most of the week, as the wind-chill will make temperatures feel 20 degrees or colder.
While many spent Christmas Day out and about covered in layers, some of the less fortunate had to turn to homeless shelters to stay warm.
City officials encourage anyone who sees a person living on the street to call Homeless Outreach at 215-232-1984 and report the sighting. Homeless outreach teams are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
