Weather Authority: Winter Storm Watch to go into effect Tuesday night into Wednesday

A Winter Storm Watch is set to go into effect Tuesday night into Wednesday night as a major nor'easter moves into the area.

The snow will move in from the west Tuesday night. The nor'easter will be intensifying rapidly Wednesday afternoon along the New Jersey coast. The storm is expected to produce heavy, wet snow with the highest amounts in hilly areas. Heavy snow 1" an hour Wednesday afternoon is possible. FOX 29's Kathy Orr says the Philadelphia area will see 3-6" while areas north and west could see 6-12" of snow. Interior South Jersey should expect a coating-3" while South Jersey and Delaware will see mainly rain. The storm will move out around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Both morning and evening commutes Wednesday will likely be affected by the messy weather. Wind gusts as high as 30-50 mph are expected.

Temperatures will hover in the low 40s through most of next week.
