10 people dead, including suspect, after shooting at school and home in British Columbia

Ten people are dead, including the suspect, after a shooting at a school and a home in British Columbia on Tuesday. 

The Canadian Royal Mounted Police are investigating a shooting that took place at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, as well as another two people who were found dead inside a residence. Both incidents are believed to be connected.

What we know:

Tumbler Ridge Secondary School is located in Tumbler Ridge, which is about 600 miles north of Vancouver, near the border with Alberta. 

In addition to the 10 people who died, another 25 were injured. Two people injured have life-threatening injuries.

What we don't know:

The suspect has been identified but investigators are not releasing their identity. 

The shooter’s motive was also unknown as of this report. 

What they're saying:

"We are not in a place to understand why or what may have motivated this tragedy," said RCMP Superintendent Ken Floyd. 

Local perspective:

"Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones. Government will ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days, as we all try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy," British Columbia Premier David Eby said in a statement.
