2 teenage girls arrested for string of armed robberies

Police have arrested two teenage girls wanted for a string of armed robberies in Upper Darby.

Reportedly, the 16 and 17-year-olds will face charges as adults for the crimes.

Late last month, police said two females and at least one male have been robbing cab drivers, Dominos delivery drivers and people on the street at gunpoint.

Police say they robbed two cab drivers on June 19, then June 23.

They say the teen girls also robbed 52 and 86-year-old tourists from Ecuador, confronting them at gunpoint and telling them to turn over their handbags.

"They don't want to let them take the bags, so they grabbed them. A woman takes out a gun and they just punch with the gun," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said at the time. "They go in the scumbag category when they attack an 86-year-old woman."
