2 teens shot in Northeast Philadelphia

Surveillance video captures the moment two young boys run out of an alleyway after being hit by a bullet. The 13-year-old and 16-year-old were on the 5200 block of Torresdale Avenue when police say they got into some kind of an argument with an older man.

"Ballistic evidence at this time tells us one gunshot was fired," Captain Drew Techner, with the Philadelphia Police, said.

Captain Techner says the adult allegedly pulled out a gun and fired one shot, grazing the younger boy across the neck.

That same bullet then pierced the 16-year-old's shoulder. The boys ran to nearby police officers on patrol for help.

"When they're confronted by 16- and 13-year-olds that have been shot and they're telling the officers 'Hey, I've been shot' it's very upsetting," Captain Techner explained.

The officers rushed the boys to Frankford Torresdale Hospital. Both boys are expected to survive.

Police say the alleged shooter dumped the gun in a recycling bin. Detectives picked it up as evidence at the scene.

"He's a good kid, he don't get into a lot of trouble," said Johnny Valley.

Valley says the 13-year-old is his cousin. He says the child recently lost his mother. Family members and neighbors alike are distraught at the violence.

"I don't know what to say. It's just sad, sad," said a neighbor.

"We gotta stop the gun violence, ya'll," said Valley.

The boys are in stable condition and expected to be okay.
