Attempted Lurings Reported in Evesham, Oaklyn
WTXF - A home security camera captured the black sedan Evesham Police believe was involved in an attempted child luring. It happened around 5 o'clock in the evening on January 16th near a playground on Peter Hurd Way.
"They were startled. They were shaken
It's unexpected. It comes out of nowhere," said a teen whose identity we're concealing. He says his brother and cousin, 10 and 11 years old, were the children approached. The two boys said a man and woman offered them candy if they'd get in the car.
"We are in our neighborhood. We should feel safe. Our kids shouldn't feel in danger. My brother shouldn't be in danger," said the teen.
That same day a similar incident was reported a half hour earlier on Manor Avenue in Oaklyn. It was a similar car description and similar approach.
"We were scared," said a woman who doesn't want to be identified. She says it happened to her 6-year-old son and child neighbor playing football right in front of their homes.
"My son described them as an older couple. They rolled down the window and were speaking quietly to try to get them to come closer and from my sons account they said we have candy in the car why don't you get in the car and we will go to our house and have fun."
Meanwhile, Evesham Police released the video today of the car in their incident to see if they're connected. The mother of the 6-year-old is happy all of the kids did the right thing by going to get help.
"My son was a little confused at the time because he didn't know what was going on. Now he is more aware of what to do in the future," she said.
Call Evesham or Oaklyn Police if you have any information on the car or suspects.
