Controversial Margate beach project slated to continue

The Army Corps of Engineers plans to resume a controversial Margate beach project.

A spokesperson says the basins were fenced off, and they set up a system to test any water that is collected in them, in accordance with a federal court order last week.

Residents are still angry after that court ruling and planned a rally today as they continue to fight the controversial dunes project.

In the meantime, the Army Corps of Engineers says it is continuing to work on elevated walkways to help navigate people to the beach beyond the project.

"We will continue to coordinate with the state and community on both short- and long-term measures related to storm water management," it says.
