DA: 10-month-old girl dies after ingesting fentanyl, parents charged
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (FOX 29) - Authorities in Delaware County have charged to people with murder in the death of their own 10-month-old daughter.
Joseph Milano, 32, and Lauren Semanyk, 34, have both been charged with third-degree murder after authorities say their daughter ingested fentanyl-laced heroin. Authorities say the couple also failed to seek medical treatment for their daughter after she displayed signs of a drug overdose.
According to investigators, the couple called 911 during the April 16 incident but hung up. When 911 operators called them back, the couple told the operators everything was fine.
Six hours after their original call, police say the couple called 911 again, this time saying she had drowned in the bathtub.
Testing revealed that the child had fentanyl in her system.
Both are also charged with involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy to commit involuntary manslaughter, and related charges.
Joseph Milano had already been in prison on a DUI charge when the charges were announced. Semanyk turned herself in on Wednesday.
