Driver wanted for crashing into police cruiser

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Detectives are looking for the driver they say crashed into a police cruiser on purpose.

The incident happened overnight in South Philadelphia.

Officers stopped the Nissan Altima on S. 21st and Carpenter streets at about 1am.

When the officers moved toward the car, they say the driver backed up and caused the crash.

Now, the cruiser has front end damage and the striking vehicle has significant rear end damage.

There were no injuries to officers.

The driver got away but police say they have the license plate number.
