Famed South Philadelphia diner to end 24-hour service
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A South Philadelphia tradition is coming to an end.
The Penrose Diner has announced it will no longer be open 24 hours a day. Saturday night into Sunday morning was the last night the diner would be open for a full 24 hours.
Citing staffing concerns, the restaurant also discussed its ability to continue serving quality product as a reason for the change.
The diner emphasized that it is not closing, but changing a tradition of 24-hour service. It will now serve the public 18 hours a day.
