Florida Resident Won Lottery with Lucky Numbers Found in His Fortune Cookie

Florida resident, Richard Davis won $7,057,696.67 from playing the numbers he found in his fortune cookie in the Florida Lottery on August 22, 2015.

Davis, 66, of Boca Raton, says he occasionally plays the lottery, but normally focuses on the multi-state games with hundred million dollar jackpots. Just recently he decided to try his luck with the in-state Florida Lotto, which offers better odds.

He couldn't be happier with his decision, and here's why.

Frequenting the same Publix grocery store at 7060 W. Palmetto Park Road as he usually does, Davis one day decided to randomly play the five numbers that were printed in the fortune cookies he had received from a restaurant.

He returned to the Publix, had his Florida Lotto ticket scanned and realized that he was the sole winner of a $10 million jackpot. "I checked and rechecked the ticket several times over the next few days," Davis said in a Florida Lotto press release.

David took some time to sort out his finances before claiming his jackpot prize from the Florida Lotto headquarters. His ticket marks the 87 th Florida Lotto jackpot-wining ticker sold in Palm Beach County, according to Florida Lotto.
