Late night fire turned deadly in rural Chester County

One person is dead after their home in a secluded, wooded area of Chester County caught fire, late Tuesday.

Now, contractors are at the scene, boarding up open doors and windows.

FOX 29's Lauren Johnson reports firefighters were called to the Birmingham Township home at about 11:25pm.

Unfortunately, it was not easy getting water in the rural area where there are no fire hydrants. Instead, crews had to bring in a tanker and pump the water from containers that look like a kiddie pool.

Everything inside the home is burned or charred.

A smoke detector was found outside the front door, on top of a trash bin. There's no word yet whether it was working properly.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

No information on the victim has been released.
