Man who moved to Philly after Hurricane Maria finds job at Chick-fil-A
Cheltenham, Pa. (WTXF) - A family is starting all over here in Philadelphia after Hurricane Maria destroyed their home in Puerto Rico. Jean Pimentel, his pregnant wife, three kids and grandmother came here to start a new chapter, but he desperately needed a job. FOX 29 viewers stepped up to help him.
He is a determined, disciplined young man - just 26 years old - who simply wanted to be back on his feet to take care of his own family. His loved ones couldn't be more proud.
"I'm starting from scratch here, zero, yes," he said.
FOX 29 first met Jean at Philadelphia's Disaster Assistance Service Center. They lost practically everything when Hurricane Maria slammed into the island of Puerto Rico.
The proud young husband, father of three with another on the way, stuck it out for as long as he could until he was forced to gather his wife, kids and grandmother and head to family in Philadelphia.
"I was really nervous to be honest with you. I was heartbroken that I had to leave Puerto Rico," he said.
Life became more stressful, but FOX 29 viewers responded to Jean's plea for work.
"Thanks to you guys that's what really helped me out a lot. The same exact day it went up on the news I had a bunch of calls,' he said.
Jean went on back-to-back interviews. He really impressed one of them and now he's the assistant manager at the Cheltenham Chick-fil-A. He says he feels at home there already and he'll take all the overtime he can get.
Next week, he is going to see what housing is available to him and his growing family.
