New information regarding Frankford sexual assault released, may be connected to grisly murder

New information about a sexual assault has been released.

Police releasing this surveillance video, which they say shows the man they're looking for.

They say it may be connected to a grisly murder.

Police say, the suspect in both of these cases has at least one thing in common.

Philadelphia Police want you to take a good look at the guy in this surveillance video.

They say he attacked a 24-year old woman around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Lt. John Stanford said, "At some point he begins to choke her, dragging her to the rear of the property at 3800 Jasper."

Police say he choked the woman until she was unconscious and then raped her. When the victim finally came to, she was naked with injuries to her head and face.

"That's why we want to get this individual off the street. Hope someone can ID this person, help lead to an arrest because again such a brutal attack."

Police are also investigating whether this attack is connected to the murder of 35 year old Ricky Morgan on Saturday.

Morgan was found stabbed to death in an alleyway near Jasper and Cumberland. The suspect in both cases was riding a blue and black mountain bike.

"He was wearing a very distinct book bag as well as design across his sneakers as well as his hat."

Angelo Select has had a business adjacent to where the woman was raped for 15 years. He is alarmed by what's happened.

"That's pretty sad, leaves me speechless because I have a daughter of my own. It's a really terrible thing," Select said.

Yolanda lives nearby and walks her elderly mom to the bus stop every day to make sure nothing bad happens to her.

"Does this make you afraid for your safety?"

"Yes, me and my children. I have four girls. I catch the bus and the train around here every day," Yolanda said.

Janice Carter, a resident, said, "Very upsetting to me. I'm in my house every night at 6 o'clock."

"Too much going on out here, too much," another resident said.
