Philadelphia International Airport to reopen all TSA checkpoints after shutdown closures

Philadelphia International Airport is moving to fully reopen its TSA checkpoints after weeks of closures caused by a staffing shortage during the partial government shutdown.

TSA checkpoint reopening schedule and hours

What we know:

Terminal C reopened Thursday, April 2 for TSA PreCheck travelers with regular operating hours, according to airport officials.

Terminal A-West will reopen Friday, April 3, and Terminal F will resume screening travelers on Tuesday, April 7.

Travelers can use any open checkpoint to access all gates, as all terminals are connected post-security, according to the airport.

Current checkpoint hours are as follows:

  • A-West: 5:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • A-East: 4:15 a.m. – 10:15 p.m.
  • B: 3:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • C: 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (TSA PreCheck only)
  • D/E: 3:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  • F: 4:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Background on recent closures and impact

The backstory:

Terminal C closed on March 12 as the airport dealt with a TSA staffing shortage linked to the partial government shutdown.

Terminals A and F closed a week later, leading to long lines and delays for travelers.

While some travelers faced frustration and longer waits during the closures, airport officials say the reopening will help ease congestion as spring break travel ramps up.

Airport officials are reminding travelers to check checkpoint hours before arriving and to allow extra time as normal operations resume.
