Police: Bus driver sprayed with mace in Olney

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) A bus driver is recovering tonight after being sprayed with mace, according to police.

The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at 5th and Olney on the Route 47 bus.

Police say a SEPTA operator stopped the bus to assist with wheelchair bound passenger. According to police, while assisting, a disgruntled passenger boarded the bus and sprayed mace at the operator as well as wheelchair bound passenger.

Police say the suspect initially tried flagging the bus mid block but it's not protocol to stop the bus unless at a bus stop. According to police, the woman ran to the stop and maced the driver while assisting the wheelchair-bound passenger

The female suspect was caught 2 blocks away by Philly PD Highway Patrol
