Police: Man Tried to Lure 6-Year-Old Child in South Jersey

Police released the sketch of a man they say was caught allegedly leaning into a 6-year-old child's bedroom window in Washington Township, New Jersey.

According to police, he tried to lure a 6-year-old girl by walking up to her first floor bedroom window in building "l" of the Washington Way Apartments Wednesday night. He was caught in the act by her startled mother, police say.

The man allegedly had just told the little girl his name was Joe and that he was a doctor. Police say he snapped her picture with his cell phone before her mom scared him off--running away between two buildings.

Investigators say the mother saw the same man the day before wandering around her building and told her he lives in the same complex. That has many neighbors worried.

Police say the man has light brown hair that's faded on the side with a half an inch more length on the top and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident or identity of the subject should immediately contact the Washington Township Investigative Division at 856-589-0330 or call 9-1-1.
