Police: Man wanted for shooting, robbery in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police have released pictures of the man wanted for shooting another while trying to rob him on the street, last weekend.

Investigators say the 26-year-old victim was walking in North Philadelphia on 24th Street approaching Clifford Street at about 1:00 a.m. last Saturday.

That's when police say two men tried to rob them. Surveillance footage showed a struggle and one of the robbers firing a shot, hitting the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The robbers fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Business owner David Simms of Eatible Delights was nearby at the time. He told FOX 29's Karen Hepp there's too much gun violence in Philadelphia.

"I always fear for the safety for employees because some nights we're here as late as midnight," he said.

Simms was working late last Friday -- getting a catering order ready for the next morning -- and was still there at 1am Saturday when the attack happened, but he didn't hear anything.

Now, police say surveillance cameras in a nearby Chinese restaurant show the gunman shortly before the robbery.

He's described as in his late teens to early 20s with a light complexion and thin build. He was clean-shaven and wearing a dark-colored "Wealth Club" hooded sweatshirt under a dark-colored winter jacket. He was also wearing light blue jeans and black New Balance sneakers with white trim.
