Police meeting with daycare owners after 7 break-ins in 9 days

Seven local daycare centers broken into, rummaged through and burglarized in just the past nine days.

Now, Philadelphia police are alerting all daycares in the city and they will be holding a community meeting to warn folks in the daycare business, Wednesday night.

They say the thief broke in through windows and doors in the back of the facilities, in West Oak Lane and surrounding neighborhoods, in the middle of the night. In one case, he even pushed out an air conditioner to slip his way through the hole.

Then, surveillance cameras caught him in action. Officers say the burglar has a distinct mustache and are counting on someone to recognize him.

The burglar has gotten away with up to $6,000 in cash and electronics.

The most recent of the crimes happened early Tuesday morning on W. Logan Street.
