Runners coming together for safer Schuylkill River Trail

Runners are coming together to fight the dangers lurking in the dark on the Schuylkill River Trail.

In recent months there have been numerous reports of runners being held up and sexually harassed on the trail, and its prompted runners to launch the Schuylkill Trail Watch.

The head of the group "RUN 215" says they will begin training volunteers made up of fellow runners and bikers to keep alert, report suspicious activity and help calm the fears many tell us about.

RUN 215 has held meetings with City Council members, The Streets Department, Philly Police and other agencies and with the weather getting warmer, the group wants to train 150 trail watch volunteers by summer.

The first training session is on April 27th.
