Perkiomen Valley School District released the following statement regarding the fire:
"The Perkiomen Valley School District community was deeply saddened to learn this morning about the death of two Schwenksville Elementary School students from a house fire. As news of the fire was reported to school personnel, immediate steps were taken to inform and mobilize staff before the school day began. Families learned through an email that a situation was unfolding and that there were few details to report. School counselors, psychologists and social workers were on hand at Schwenksville Elementary to assist with any students who were aware of the emergency. District personnel were in contact with local law enforcement officials to confirm details. When it was confirmed that there were two fatalities, Schwenksville Elementary School shared this information with students so as to be available to provide immediate support. An email to Schwenksville parents informed them of the news, and a district-wide email has also been shared to inform the community at-large. Support for students - as well as faculty and staff -- will be ongoing as needed. PV is a strong community that pulls together in times of crisis. We have already seen evidence of others wanting to support the family through email communications and social media interactions. We are heartened by this response, and know that many will want to help this family, who was well-known within our community. We will share information about support efforts benefiting the family as appropriate. At this time, we invite all to join us in sending their thoughts and sympathies to the family at this very difficult time."
