Special Eagles parade SEPTA passes sold out

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Some Philadelphia Eagles fans hoping to make their way into the city for the Parade of Champions on Thursday morning hit a snag on Wednesday morning as thousands tried to buy SEPTA passes.

The 50,000 special Independence passes have since sold out.

Suburban stations where hundreds of commuters had lined up as early as 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning had sold out just hours after opening.

Early Wednesday morning, FOX 29's Steve Keeley reported more than half of the 50,000 special $10 day passes for the Eagles parade day trains had been sold.

SEPTA says Weekly and Monthly TrailPasses will also be accepted for parade-day travel along with pre-purchased senior/reduced fares.

SEPTA announced their parade plans to accommodate riders heading in an out of the city on Tuesday morning.

Regional Rail service will operate to-and-from selected stations. Service to Center City will be available via Jefferson and 30th Street Stations, which are a short walk from the parade route. There will be no service at Suburban, University City or Temple University stations.

For parade-day travel on Regional Rail, customers are required to have one of the following fare products: A Weekly or Monthly TrailPass, an Independence Pass, or a pre-purchased senior/reduced fare ticket.

SEPTA General Manager Jeffrey Knueppel appeared on Good Day Philadelphia Wednesday morning and explained that they expected passes to sell out by mid-day Wednesday.
