Suspect caught after deadly late night shooting

Police officers who heard gunshots being fired were able to catch a suspect running away from the scene with a gun in his hand. Unfortunately, the victim died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police said it happened at about 10pm Wednesday near the 2900 block of Germantown Avenue in North Philadelphia.

They found 46-year-old Jorge Lopez lying on the highway, shot several times. He was rushed to the hospital but didn't make it.

Then, officers saw the 23-year-old suspect, chased him, and caught him at 11th and Cambria streets. They also recovered a silver revolver near the scene of the capture.

The suspect's name will be released when charges are approved and processing is complete.
