Tacony Palmyra Bridge reopens after being struck by ship

The Tacony Palmyra Bride has reopened Thursday morning after it was struck by a passing ship overnight.

The bridge was closed for about five hours after it was struck around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

The Burlington County Bridge Commission says the ship hit the bridge's fender system that protects its piers.

Engineers inspected the bridge and reopened it shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.
