Teens using laxative to get drunk, CVS to limit sales

(FOX 2 WJBK)- A big pharmacy chain is limiting the sale of a laxative meant to relieve constipation but is instead being used by some teens to get drunk.

CVS plans to limit the sale of the store-brand laxative after learning that some people are using it the wrong way. The CVS brand Homeopathic Constipation Relief is sold over the counter and previously without limitations.

However, officials say the product is being abused of of it's ingredients: 40 proof liquor and water.

The drug store chain says it will limit the number of bottles purchased by underage shoppers to just one but they will not actually be checking ID's. Instead, anybody who appears to be under 21 could be subject to the new policy.
