Two 14-year-olds charged with making terroristic threats against NJ middle school

Police say two 14-year-old students have been charged after allegedly making terroristic threats against Lumberton Middle School.

The incident began when, shortly after dismissal on Friday, a student overhead alarming comments made by another student. The student who overheard the comments was then reportedly threatened.

Further investigation revealed that two students made a threat regarding a school shooting.

After identifying the suspects, police took two 14-year-old boys into custody. Each has been charged with Terroristic Threats and False Public Alarm.

"The Lumberton Police Department and School District will always take any type of threat against our schools very seriously," the department said in a statement.

"We will always take any threatening statement, made in any context as a legitimate threat, when it comes to the safety of our students," said Chief DiLoreto.
