Woman fatally shot inside North Philadelphia home
Police are investigating after a woman was fatally shot inside a North Philadelphia home on Sunday afternoon. FOX 29's JoAnn Pileggi has the story.
NORTH PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating after a woman was fatally shot inside a North Philadelphia home on Sunday afternoon.
What we know:
According to authorities, officers responded at 1:13 p.m. to a residence on the 2300 block of N. Cleveland Street after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found the woman inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:49 p.m., police said.

Police also noted the shooting occurred during a violent weekend in Philadelphia, with at least six shootings in the past 48 hours leaving at least six people injured and one woman dead.
Investigators say the woman who was shot had allegedly tried to break into the home before she was confronted by the homeowner.
According to witnesses, the homeowner was alerted by a dog after the suspect allegedly entered the property through a back alley entrance of the North Cleveland Street row home.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots around 1:15 p.m. before seeing police and crime scene tape in the area.
Some residents described ongoing issues in the neighborhood with squatters entering what they believe are abandoned homes, sometimes during both day and night.
What we don't know:
The residence has been secured as investigators continue to process the scene and gather evidence. At this time, no arrests have been made, and no weapon has been recovered.
