Eagles Huff charged for pot, gun after traffic stop

Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff was whisked away from Gloucester City municipal court in a white Cadillac Tuesday afternoon just hours after he was arrested on drug and gun charges. Fox29 spoke exclusively with his attorney.

"we're still reviewing the allegations at this point, we haven't had a chance to look at the entire set of circumstances that happened during the stop and the arrest," said Fortunato Perri Jr.

Sources say Delaware River Port Authority Police pulled Huff over for traffic violations in his black pickup truck as he headed over the Walt Whitman bridge back to New Jersey just after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police found marijuana and a gun in his car.

"He has a permit to carry in Texas, which is reciprocal with Pennsylvania, but not with New Jersey. Huff was taken into custody and brought to DRPA Police headquarters in South Philadelphia. His attorney confirmed that he was charged with motor vehicle violations, including DUI, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of a 9mm handgun without a license.

"It's a very disappointing set of circumstances, he's been doing well in his career," Perri added.

Eagles fans reacted harshly to the news of huff's arrest.

"These guys got to start paying the penalty. We have to pay the penalty. They gotta pay the penalty." said Daniel Coyne on his way to Tuesday night's 76ers game.

The 25 year old wide receiver and kickoff returner was taken to Gloucester City Municipal Court where he was arraigned on the charges. Family members arrived and posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bail.

"At this point it looks like it's going to be at the municipal level. But again we'll have to wait and see how things play out," Perri said.

An Eagles statement said "we are aware of the incident today involving Josh Huff. At this point we are gathering more information." Perri plans to closely examine the circumstances of the car stop.

"Hopefully we can sort this thing out and move forward," he said.

There was no further comment from the Eagles or the NFL. The Camden County prosecutors could decide to take this case to a grand jury. Sources say police also found 6 hollow point bullets in the magazine for the gun in the car next to the weapon.

Huff is scheduled for his next hearing in Gloucester City municipal court on November 15th.
