Eagles LB Jordan Hicks out for season with torn Achilles

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Eagles middle linebacker Jordan Hicks will miss the remainder of the 2017 season after he tore his Achilles tendon during Monday night's game, head coach Doug Pederson announced Tuesday.

Hicks, who has been dealing with an ankle issue, went down following the second play of the game in the first quarter and was carted off the field.

NFL Network reported Tuesday morning that Hicks would undergo an MRI Tuesday to confirm the extent of the injury.

With Mychal Kendricks already out at linebacker, veteran Najee Goode and second-year linebacker Joe Walker stepped into the game alongside Nigel Bradham, the team's leading tackler so far this year.

Earlier this week, the Eagles also added rookie linebacker Nate Gerry to the active roster from the practice squad, and can also turn to special-teamer Kamu Grugier-Hill.

The Eagles boast the second-ranked run defense behind the Denver Broncos in large part due to strong play from their linebackers and defensive line.

Hicks will finish the year with 28 total tackles, and a fumble recovery.
